The Godhead

The Godhead

God The Father

There is only one living and true God, an infinite, intelligent, eternal Spirit.  He is the creator, Saviour, and Judge of heaven and earth.  He is the one and only Almighty, and there is no other God besides Him.  God has manifested Himself to us in three persons that form the Godhead – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost – equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.    Genesis 1:2; Exodus 3:14; 15:11; Psalm 83:18; 90:2; Isaiah 44:6; Jeremiah 10:10; Mark 12:32; Ephesians 4:6; I Timothy 1:17

God The Son

Jesus Christ is the second person in the Godhead.  He was born of the virgin Mary, making Him both God and man, lived a sinless life, became our kinsman redeemer, and fulfilled the prophetic place of the Lamb of God.  In His ministry He established His church, fulfilled the law, died for the sins of all mankind, was buried, and resurrected the third day to prove His sacrifice was accepted in Heaven, and that He was Lord of all.  He is the one and only Saviour of man. John 1:14,29; Romans 16:27; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 1:3; 1 John 5:7.

God the Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Godhead.  His work is to reprove the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment, bringing conviction to the heart of man, and leading the heart to all truth.  He seals the redeemed at the day of redemption, and empowers, comforts, and convicts those that serve the Lord.  His work differs entirely from the spirit that is in the Charismatic movement.   Psalm 139:7; Isaiah 6:3; Nehemiah 9:20; John 14:27; 15:26; Hebrews 9:14; Rom 15:19; 1 Corinthians 2:11; 2 Corinthians 13:14; 1 John 5:7
